Traditional Kurdish dresses were on display at a fashion show in Madrid. Spanish models wore the colorfully elaborate garments which were created by Kurdish designer Chiman Abdullah.

“The participants were impressed and expressed hope that such exhibitions will continue and be conducted at a higher level, with Kurdish clothing becoming a global brand,” Darawan Haji Hamid, the Kurdistan Regional Government’s official representative in Spain, told Rudaw on July 15.

The Kurdish attire, typically vibrant and colorful, often includes a long dress or gown accompanied by a jacket or vest.

Traditional shoes for Kurdish women are similarly colorful and often adorned with beads or precious stones; however, modern heels, flats, and wedges are increasingly popular, depending on the occasion.

The ensemble is completed with colorful belts, pants, jewelry, and other accessories.

The event was sponsored by the KRG, an effort to spread cultural awareness through showcasing Kurdish styles.
