PKK: ceasefire with Turkey is meaningless

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The ceasefire with the Turkish government is practically over according to a statement released by  the armed wing of the ​ Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK)​. 


The bases of the PKK in Iraqi Kurdistan were heavily bombarded by the Turkish warplanes last night on Friday, announced the armed wing of the PKK in Turkey—the People’s Protection Forces (HPG).

“On July 24 at 11 pm, a large number of Turkish warplanes bombarded the border region of Badinan region, and Qandil and Khwakurk on 1 am of 25 of July,” said HPG in a statement.

“The ceasefire has become meaningless. We will inform our people about the result of the bombardment as soon as possible,” continued the HPG statement.

The HPG claimed responsibility for the assassination of two Turkish policemen last Wednesday on July 22, saying it was a reprisal for suicide bombing in Suruc, south of Turkey.
