ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Four people were killed on Sunday when a helicopter crashed into a hospital in Turkey’s western province of Mugla, state media reported.
The victims included two pilots, a doctor, and a healthcare worker.
The ambulance helicopter, owned by the health ministry, struck the fourth floor of a training and research hospital before crashing into an open space, according to Anadolu Agency.
“There was dense fog. The reason is being investigated,” Governor Idris Akbiyik told reporters.
The crash only caused material damage to the hospital, according to Akbiyik.
The health ministry confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and that findings will be announced later.
Top Turkish officials, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, offered condolences to the families of the victims.
