Two killed in Turkish mine collapse
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Two people were killed and another injured on Friday following a collapse inside a chrome mine in Turkey's western Denizli province. Officials say a judicial investigation has been launched into the accident.
The collapse occurred at a depth of 700 to 800 meters inside the mine, trapping three people, according to Denizli Governor Omer Faruk Coskun.
Coskun told journalists that rescue teams successfully reached the trapped individuals, but unfortunately only one person was alive. "It's a tragic accident," he said.
The rescued miner is in stable condition. The victims are an engineer and a miner.
Details of the accident will be disclosed following a technical examination of the site, according to the governor.
Turkish Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunc announced on X that an investigation has been initiated.
