Turkish army retaliates against ISIS in Syria, after rockets kill 7 people
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Turkish army said on Tuesday that its artillery units had shelled Islamic State (ISIS) positions in Syria, after receiving rocket fire that killed seven people and wounded 11 others.
Turkish long-range artillery fired on the ISIS-held city of Aziz and its surrounding villages, 40 kilometers inside the border and the location where the rockets on Turkey were fired.
On Tuesday, two rockets fired from across the border landed in the Turkish city of Kilis, wounded 12 people.
Kilis, near the Syrian border, has been targeted several times by conflicting parties in Syria. Last month, a four-year-old child and one other person were killed in the province by eight rockets launched from across the border.
