17 injured in south Turkey traffic accident
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Seventeen people were injured in Malatya province, southern Turkey on Friday when a minibus overturned.
The minibus was carrying passengers in the Akcadag district of the province when it overturned. One of the 16 wounded passengers is in a critical condition. The driver is also among the injured, TRT Haber news outlet reported.
Security forces and medical teams were dispatched to the incident area.
According to figures from Turkey’s traffic police general directorate, the country witnessed over half a million traffic accidents last year, killing nearly 3,000 people and injuring 355,000 others.
Turkey’s largest city Istanbul had the most accidents resulting in injuries, followed by the capital Ankara.
