FSA takes control of al-Rai while ISIS holes up behind human shields in al-Bab
On the second front of Turkey’s Euphrates Shield operation inside Syria, Turkish tanks and vehicles rolled into al-Rai town, 60 kilometres west of Jarablus. The town is now under the control of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Turkish army.
The FSA then launched an offensive in the villages around al-Rai and retook 11 villages from Islamic State (ISIS).
ISIS is now gathering people in al-Bab, 30 kilometres to the south, and is using them as human shields in an effort to hold onto the town.
