ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - An Iraqi base housing Turkish troops in Nineveh province was targeted with a number of Katyusha rockets late Tuesday night, recording the third attack on the facility since the year began, an MP confirmed to Rudaw with no casualties being reported.
At least five Katyusha rockets landed on the outskirts of Zilkan military base, Sherwan Dubardani, a Nineveh representative in the Iraqi parliament said.
There is no information on the impact caused by the attack.
Turkey has not yet commented on the offensive.
Zilkan has been a target of several airstrikes previously, with over a dozen rockets targeting it since the beginning of the year.
Around 18 rockets were fired at the base in February in retaliation to a Turkish aerial bombardment in Shingal at the time.
Turkey-Iraq relations were strained in the wake of the deployment of some 150 Turkish soldiers to Iraq in December 2015. The troops are still present in the area despite calls from Iraqi officials for them to leave.
