Peshmerga repulse ISIS near Mosul, killing 19 militants and wounding scores
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Peshmerga forces repulsed an assault on their position near the extremist-held city of Mosul early Sunday, killing 19 militants and wounding scores of others, a Kurdish military official said.
“ISIS militants launched the attack in the village of Bihalan near the Bashik front, but the attack was repelled right away,” said the Peshmerga source, speaking on condition of anonymity.
He added that the militants had come with artillery and other heavy weapons, which they did not get a chance to use in face of the fierce and deadly Peshmerga response.
Meanwhile, a Kurdish commander told Rudaw on Saturday that Peshmerga forces had repulsed a string of attacks on their military base in Tal Afar, 63 kilometers west of Mosul.
