Mass grave found in Tal Afar and several homes detonated in Mosul
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — A mass grave of dozens of Iraqi army soldiers massacred by the Islamic State was found in the Tal Afar district of Mosul, a Kurdish official told Rudaw on Monday.
“On the outskirts of Tal Afar, locals found a mass grave of 70 Iraqi army soldiers on Monday,” Saeed Mamuzini, a media officer for the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) 17th branch in Mosul, told Rudaw.
Tal Afar is a district in northwestern Iraq in the Mosul province located approximately 63 kilometers west of Mosul, 52 kilometers east of Shingal and 200 kilometers northwest of Kirkuk.
ISIS also recently bombed 16 Christian homes in Mosul belonging to doctors in the city, Mamuzini added.
“These 16 homes are located in Mosul’s eastern neighborhood of Bakr. They were evacuated months ago and bombed today,” he added.
