ISIS suicide bombers attack Peshmerga in Shingal
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Kurdish Peshmerga forces successfully foiled suicide attacks launched by the militants of the Islamic State (ISIS) against Domiz military base in western Shingal, a Peshmerga official told Rudaw Thursday.
"Yesterday night, ISIS launched a suicide assault on Peshmerga frontlines in Domiz military base which the Peshmerga foiled," said Luqman Kliyi, a Peshmerga commander in Shingal.
"We have the corpses of the ISIS suicide bombers, one was killed before detonating himself and the other one managed to detonate himself which wounded a member of the command in Shingal and two other Peshmerga," Kliyi added.
"Yesterday at 11pm, the terrorists held an attack on Peshmerga force but before reaching the Peshmerga's defensive lines they were killed by the Peshmerga," said Shamo Shamali, a Peshmerga commander.
"Two of the militants were gunned down by the Peshmerga and the other militant was wearing an explosive belt and blew himself up," he added.
The Peshmerga commander believes that ISIS has been weakened.
