Twin blasts target ISIS in Mosul
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Twin blasts reportedly targeted the Islamic State group (ISIS) in Mosul on Monday, killing two senior leaders, a Kurdish official told Rudaw.
He also reported that ISIS had executed 45 people in Mosul on charges of spying for the Iraqi government.
"A blast went off inside the Mosul governorate building in Mosul," said Saeed Mamuzini, an exiled Kurdistan Democratic Party official in Mosul.
He said it was not immediately clear whether it was a suicide attack inside the building or a bombing by the US-led coalition. "No casualty figure has been released yet," he added.
According to Mamuzini, another blast targeted an ISIS shelter in the township of Baaj in western Mosul on Monday, killing nine militants, including two emirs, or governors, identified as Abu Aiman and Abu Hadi.
"ISIS executed 45 people on Monday in Mosul on the charge of spying for the Iraqi government through the Internet and mobile phones," Mamuzini claimed.
He said the people of Mosul are happy with Friday’s recapture of Shingal by the Peshmerga and that "there are slogans on walls and streets expressing their happiness for the liberation of Shingal."
