ISIS claims responsibility for Baghdad bombing

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The Islamic State group (ISIS) on Friday claimed responsibility for a car bombing in Baghdad on Thursday that killed one person and injured 12 others. 

In a statement carried on Telegram channels linked to the group, ISIS claimed they carried out a car bombing in Baghdad’s Sadr City, killing and injuring 20 people and destroying five vehicles. 

The blast, in the al-Habibiya neighbourhood of the Sadr City suburb, killed the driver of the car instantly and set on fire another five vehicles, according to Iraq’s Security Media Cell.

In January, 32 people were killed and 110 injured in a suicide bombing in the Baghdad’s central Tayaran Square. The attack was also claimed by ISIS.
