BASHIQA, Iraq — A twelve-year-old girl is among those injured in Wednesday night's rocket attack near Bashiqa in the Nineveh Plains.

Four rockets targeted Zilkan military base, which hosts Turkish troops. One Turkish soldier was killed in the attack, according to the Turkish defence ministry.

Two rockets  landed in the nearby village of Gudad, the ministry said.

Two people were injured, including Faiza Mahmood, 12.

"My house was the first to come under attack. My daughter was asleep. We were outside. When we heard the bombing, we rushed inside immediately and my son grabbed her and we brought her to Shekhan," her father told Rudaw.

"The rocket damaged the wall and landed inside a house. Bomb disposal engineering teams have said they would not touch it until tomorrow," said village chief Zedan Ahmed.

Erbil airport was also hit by an explosives-laden drone on Wednesday night. No injuries have been reported.
