ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The Islamic State has executed 10 ex-Iraqi military officers on espionage allegations, claims a well-placed source inside the ISIS stronghold city Mosul.

The unnamed source at the Jumhuriyah Hospital in Mosul told Rudaw that the hospital morgue received the bodies of the slain officers after the execution. The source added that they were all shot dead.

Separately, ISIS executed former Iraqi Parliament candidate Ebrahim Saleh Badraniyeh.

ISIS captured Mosul in June 2014, overwhelming the defense forces, many of whom fled and left their weapons and uniforms behind.

Since the group overran Mosul, ISIS’ sharia court has enacted countless cruel and inhuman sentences. Victims who are punished are mainly accused of violating the group’s extremist interpretations of Islamic sharia law or for suspected disloyalty or spying on the extremist group.
