UPDATE: ISIS bombs kill 100 in northern Iraqi town; officials warn of more car bombings

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Two huge bomb blasts – one at a teashop and the other at a mosque -- killed at least 100 people in the township of Sharaban in Iraq’s northern Diyala province late Monday evening, Rudaw reporters on the scene said.

"The first blast went off at a teashop in the neighborhood of Asri and the second one targeted a mosque while the prayers were going on," a Rudaw reporter said from the scene.

According to information obtained by Rudaw, more than 100 people were killed in the two blasts, one at the Nazanda Khatun Mosque.

The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the explosions shortly after it took place.

Another Rudaw reporter said that second blast went off after security forces and people rushed arrived to the scene.

"When security forces and civilians rush to help the dead and wounded to hospital, a car bomb targeted the crowd, killing several more civilians,” the reporter said.

Zahir Tahir, a member of the Diyala province, told Rudaw that a curfew was being imposed in the town.

"Starting now, a  curfew is imposed in Sharaban, because according to intelligence information there are two more car bombs planned."
