Coalition strikes kill 17 ISIS fighters in Salahaddin
ERBIL, Kurdistan region - At least 17 Islamic State fighters were killed in a series of airstrikes launched by the US-led coalition formed to fight the jihadists, the Iraqi Defense Minister said in a statement on Friday.
“The coalition airstrikes targeted the Deash gunmen’s bases, killing 17 fighters and destroying an estimated 12 vehicles in the Ajil oil field,” the ministry announced.
The Iraqi army, backed by Shiite militias and with air support from the anti-ISIS coalition, is fighting the extremists in different parts of Salahaddin province.
Tikrit, the capital provincial capital, was been liberated last month after weeks of heavy fighting.
