Fighting and dead militants as Iraqi forces liberate more Mosul neighborhoods
MOSUL, Iraq – Rudaw cameras captured fighting in Mosul neighborhoods, where the dead bodies of ISIS fighters still lay in a house where the militants had been holed up.
The Iraqi army liberated two neighborhoods in eastern Mosul on Wednesday, a day after it made progress southeast of the city, liberating the al-Salam neighborhood.
The districts of al-I'lam and al-Shuhada were taken by the Iraqi Counterterrorism Service (CTS) after heavy clashes between ISIS militants that involved bombs and gunfire, said Rudaw’s Ranja Jamal, who is embedded with the Iraqi forces.
Rudaw cameras also captured footage of a wounded Iraqi soldier as he was taken to safety.
The CTS has now liberated more than 25 eastern districts in Mosul, more than seven weeks after the launch of the Mosul operation.
