Iraqi troops are being slowed down by ISIS snipers inside Mosul as they try to push further into the city. The snipers mostly target the government troops from rooftops which makes the overall operation inside the city painstakingly slow.
A commander told Rudaw that the threat of the snipers couples with their concern for civilian lives in this second largest city of Iraq. There are more than 125 neighborhoods in Mosul and the army has so far retaken only 25 of them.
