Saeed Mamuzini, a Kurdistan Democratic Party official in Mosul, told Rudaw: “On Saturday, the Islamic State militants executed 12 policemen and soldiers in Ghazlan military camps on the charge of having suspected links with Iraqi security forces.”

The KDP official continued, “At least 17 teenagers were reportedly executed by ISIS radicals. The teenagers had previously escaped from Salamiya military camp in Mosul.”

Mamuzini said unknown gunmen opened fire in the ISIS military camp in Sukar district, which resulted in the death of an ISIS governor named Abu-Omran.

Mosul fell to ISIS on June 10. The defeat was a humiliation for the Iraqi Army, with many troops known to have abandoned their weapons and uniforms as they fled the ISIS onslaught.
