ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Two rockets on Sunday landed close Iraq's Balad Air Base, located north of the capital of Baghdad, according to Iraq's Security Media Cell.
The Katyusha rockets landed outside of the airbase at around 12:15 pm, and did not cause any human or material losses, according the statement released on Telegram. They were reportedly launched from Diyala province's Dojama area.
"The base targeted is one that includes squadrons of Iraqi fighter planes," a statement from the Cell read.
Base commander Zia Mohsen told state media that the rockets landed "more than three kilometers" away from the base.
