Iranian Kurds dominate the fruit markets in the capital city of Tehran.
 
They say that shoppers trust Kurdish shop owners since they are honest and have good quality fruit.
 
Most of the fruit for sale in Tehran’s fruit markets are produced in Iranian Kurdistan.
 
Some 12 million tons of fruit and vegetables are produced in five Kurdish provinces.
 
Their fruit and vegetables are also exported to the Kurdistan Region.
 
Every neighborhood in Tehran has its own fruit market.
 
And Kurds own nearly all them.
 
Shoppers say they come to Kurdish shops due to the politeness of the Kurdish shop owners, fair prices, and good quality fruit.
 
Some people come a long way to buy their fruit at the Kurdish markets.
 
Tehran is the biggest city in Iran with some eight million inhabitants.
 
And hundreds of thousands of people outside of the city visit Tehran every day.
 
Tehran’s population reflects Iran’s ethnic communities.
 
According to unofficial statistics, some two million Kurds live in Tehran.
