ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Asil Nujaifi, the exiled governor of Mosul, has told Rudaw that neighboring Turkey has decided to send assistance for the fight to drive ISIS from his occupied city and province.
Nujaifi said on Sunday that Ankara has agreed to send weapons and supplies for recapturing Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, which is still under the control of Islamic State militants, and the surrounding province of the same name.
The announcement followed a trip earlier this week to Ankara by Iraqi Vice President Osama Nujaifi, who is Nujaifi’s brother, during which he met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
