Duhok Christian woman donates her hair to child cancer patient
Ann Jolakh is a Christian woman from Duhok province.
Unable to work, as the mother of a newborn baby, she sought to perform a non-selective act of generosity.
She decided to donate the hair she has grown for five years to a child battling cancer.
“I want to give it to a child, irrespective of who they are and what their religion is,” she said.
Her 60 centimeter-long tresses were turned into a wig for a girl called Shahnaz, one of 32 children currently being treated for cancer in Duhok, according to the province’s health directorate.
Ann finally met Shahnaz at Jin Centre, a treatment facility for children suffering from cancer.
“My daughter suffers from a chronic disease. We thank this girl [Ann] who came to the hospital and made my daughter very happy,” Shahnaz’s mother said.
