ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - A 13-year-old boy has gone missing in eastern Erbil for six days, and his father calls on everyone to help. Search teams and his relatives constantly search to find the teenager.
Ayoub Ahmed left home in Erbil’s Karez (Qarabu) neighbourhood on January 24 but never returned. He was last spotted on CCTV footage walking over a stream near his house.
His family members, relatives and rescue teams have been searching for Ayoub for six days but they have failed to find any clue about his whereabouts.
Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw has visited the family, promising to increase efforts to find the teenager, adding that Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has assigned him to find Ayoub as soon as possible.
Ayoub’s father, Ahmed Abdullah, told Rudaw’s Ranja Jamal on Monday that Ayoub suffered from epilepsy, one of the most common disorders of the nervous system, but added that this is the first time his son goes missing.
The desperate father called on people to help him find his son.
“I call on people to check their empty houses, yards, and farms. He is a kid and may have gone somewhere. I hope people find him for me,” he said.
The government is working on a new phase of the 150-metre road near Ayoub’s house and the place where the teenager was last seen is part of the project.
