Peshmerga Ministry seek to determine identity of Kurd executed in Mosul
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region- The Peshmerga Ministry announced on Tuesday that they are not confident about whether the beheaded man in the execution video released by Islamic State (ISIS) on Tuesday is a Peshmerga or a civilian.
“We have yet to determine if the individual beheaded by ISIS is a member of the Peshmerga or a civilian,” Hazhar Omar, a Peshmerga official, told Rudaw.
“The Peshmerga ministry has started an investigation to identify this individual,” Omar added, “And most of the Peshmerga commanders have been informed."
ISIS released a video on Tuesday showing a Kurdish member of ISIS of the group beheading a man they claim to be a member of the Kurdish Peshmerga before a crowd in Mosul and threatening to kill two other Peshmerga prisoners knelt before him.
