Many of the victims of the Iraqi army operation to drive ISIS out of Mosul are civilians. They get injured from shrapnel or mortar and sniper fire of ISIS militants who target liberated neighborhoods.
Some of the wounded receive basic medical treatment on the front but have to later be transferred to hospitals for proper treatment. One such hospital is Erbil's West Hospital.
It has been overwhelmed by the number of patients in recent weeks. The hospital has only 200 beds and according to the staff, they receive about 100-150 patients from Mosul and surrounding areas every day.
