Iranian forces kill a resident of Kurdistan Region in Rojhelat
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Iranian border forces on Friday fired at a group of people from Kurdistan Region’s Sulaimani province who had visited a village in western Iran (Rojhelat) to attend the wake of a relative. One person was killed and at least two others were injured, a local official told Rudaw
Shaho Osman, mayor of Sulaimani province’s Sharbazher town, told Rudaw’s Peshawa Bakhtiyar on Friday that a group of people from the town’s Marwe village visited relatives in Choman village which located in the Iranian side of the border to express their condolences for the death of a person. Iranian border guards fired at the group, killing Dastan Rasul, aged between 30-33, and injuring two other.
The dead body of Dastan and the injured people have been transferred to Sulaimani city.
The injured have been identified as Rasul Mahmud and Mohammed Aziz, both aged between 50-55.
A relative of the victims told Rudaw in front of Sulaimani’s Shar Hospital, where the injured are being treated, that three people were injured in the incident but the wound of the third one is not serious.
He added that the group consisted of 20 people.
