Shekhan mayor uninjured after car shot at

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The mayor of Shekhan district in Duhok province was the target of a shooting on Wednesday. Several bullets struck his car while he was driving through the city center.

“I was in my car when the shots were fired. The bullets hit my car, but I am safe,” Khalid Narmo, mayor of Shekhan, told Rudaw.

Narmo stated that he did not recognize the assailant.

Rudaw understands that the shooter’s identity remains unknown and police have not yet made any arrests.

Shekhan is located 60 kilometres southeast of Duhok.
