Arrest made over attack on Rudaw building

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Two men were arrested late last night and charged with carrying out the attack on the Rudaw building in Erbil which wounded five people on Friday, a security source in Erbil said on Tuesday.


No further information was immediately provided on the arrest by the Security forces as the investigation continues.


The Islamic State (ISIS) group has previously claimed the responsibility for the attack on their twitter accounts.

At 12:05 am on June 25 a grenade was thrown out the window of a car traveling on Erbil’s Runaki Street at the front of the Rudaw Media Network building.

An employee in the agencies public relations department, a driver and three security guards were injured in the blast – fortunately their injuries are light. The attack also damaged two of Rudaw’s live coverage vehicles.
