A multi-ethnic group of Syrian activists in the northeastern city of Hasaka spent Friday delivering gifts to children displaced from the town of Sari Kani (Ras al-Ain) by Turkey's invasion of northern Syria.

Turkey and its Syrian proxies attacked the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria on October 9. Hundreds of thousands of Sari Kani residents were displaced when Turkey invaded the town.

Young Kurds abroad launched a "We are with you" campaign to send gifts to displaced Syrian children, who have been fleeing their homes from as early as the start of national unrest in 2011.

Farhad Mohammed, a Kurdish activist who dressed as Santa Claus, told AFP he wore the costume to celebrate the new year holidays and “put joy in the hearts of those children and that's why we distributed presents."

Baouer Osman, an Arab member of the campaign, said that the gifts “consist of gloves, socks and hats so they can face this cold weather. What's important for these small children is that they stay warm."

"The only reason behind what we are doing is to put a smile on the faces of these children that were targeted by a war that they have nothing to do with," he added.
