ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Turkish artillery has targeted the Mergasur border area in the North of the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
The Gora Dem, Rashkey, Kani Surekan and Beshun regions on the border of the Mergasur district were bombarded.
“A big fire broke out due to the shelling in Mergasur district,” said Rudaw’s reporter in the region.
Turkish airstrikes and shelling against Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions in Kurdish Iraq began on July 25 after the PKK claimed responsibility for assassinating two Turkish policemen on July 22.
