Suspected killer of Kurdistan parliament driver arrested in Erbil
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Security forces (Asayish) on Saturday arrested a man suspected of being the killer of a driver for the Kurdistan Region's parliament when the latter was found dead in Erbil around two weeks ago, according to a statement released by Erbil's security directorate.
The suspect, Abdulqadir Ali Rasul, who goes by the name of Qadir Qala, was arrested by security forces after investigation teams identified his location on the outskirts of Erbil city.
According to the security forces, he "confronted the force with gunshots, and as a result, was arrested with injuries and is currently in hospital under treatment."
Dildar Hamadamin Mustafa, 50, was found dead near a mosque in Erbil's Araban neighborhood on February 10, 2022. Mustafa was a driver for the Kurdistan Region's parliament.
Erbil's Asayish directorate added that they will release more information once the investigation is complete.
The Kurdistan Region has seen a number of killings this month. Earlier in February, a woman was shot dead in Erbil's Koya town as soon as she stepped out of a taxi.
