Masoud Barzani aids Kobane family after tragic death
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Masoud Barzani, leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), came to the assistance of a family from the Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria (Rojava) and gave the family of a man who tragically died from gas suffocation residency in the Kurdistan Region.
“President Masoud Barzani’s office has addressed our situation and resolved the issue, now we have our own residency permit. I can now travel with my husband's body to Kobane and return to the Kurdistan Region,” Maryam Hussein, from Kobane, said on Monday.
On Sunday, two workers lost their lives after sleeping in tents and suffocating to death by the fumes of a gas heater in Kirkuk.
The two victims, identified as Abdulsalam Ibrahim, 33, and Bashar Mustafa, 26, were from the symbolic Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria.
After losing her husband Ibrahim, Hussein called Barzani’s office in an effort to obtain aid.
"I want to thank President Barzani, he truly is a kindhearted father," Hussein said.
The two victims were working in Kirkuk and turned on the gas heater after coming back to their tent before falling asleep and suffocating to death.
Ibrahim leaves behind four young girls.
