ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The United States on Tuesday condemned the latest Iranian strike on bases of Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region, saying the “near daily attacks” undermine Iraq’s sovereignty.

Iranian drones hit the military base of the Kurdistan Freedom Party in Prde town, along the Erbil and Kirkuk border on Tuesday.

“Iran’s violations of Iraqi territorial integrity continue,” read a statement from US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price, saying that Washington condemns “these repeated and brazen violations of Iraq’s territorial integrity and calls on Iran to refrain from further threats and violence.”

The attack marks the fourth time Iran has struck bases of Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region within the last two months.

Alina Romanowski, the US ambassador to Iraq, also denounced the latest Iranian attack prior to Price’s statement.

The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Chief Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert called Iran's repeated strikes "intolerable", adding that "Iraq must act as one in order not to give room to further hostilities."

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired several drones and missiles in the early hours of Monday, targeting bases of exiled Kurdish opposition groups in the Kurdistan Region. One member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) was killed in the attack.

The series of Iranian attacks in the past few days comes after IRGC’s Quds Force commander Esmail Qaani last week threatened ground operations by Iran against opposition parties taking shelter inside Iraqi land.
