OSHNAVIEH, Iran — Buze Sina is one of the highest mountains in Iran's Kurdish provinces, situated 3,480 meters above sea level.

A popular site with both tourists and nomads with livestock, the mountain is covered in snow during winter and spring.

Environmentalists clean the area after tourists who come to visit, especially in the summer.

"As environmental activists, we collect the waste because we are really worried about the place. It is not that difficult for any family who visits this area to bring garbage bags," said activist Ibrahim Habibi.

Locals also try to keep the mountain's name in its Kurdish form, despite attempts from Turks, Persians and Azeris to change it.

"We want to keep the name of Buze Sina and prevent it from being changed," said activist Sawlat Mohammedi.

"The next generation will come here and need this mountain, this beautiful and green place," he added.
