ISIS assault defeated in Hardan
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — US-led coalition airstrikes defeated an ISIS assault on a Peshmerga stockade in Hardan village in Shingal, according to a Rudaw reporter on Sunday.
Rudaw correspondent Obed Rashavayi told Rudaw “the Islamic State militants prepared themselves to launch an assault with eight military vehicles on a Peshmerga stockade, but the assault was defeated by the coalition airstrikes, which resulted in the destruction of the eight military vehicles.”
Hardan is located east of Tal Afar on the main road from Shingal and Tal Afar into Syria in northwestern Iraq in Nineveh province.
ISIS captured Shingal in August 2014, unleashing a spree of killing, rape and kidnapping against the area’s predominantly Kurdish Yezidi population.
