Turkish jets bomb Kurdistan’s Amedi area, one woman injured
AMEDI, Kurdistan Region – Turkish fighter jets on Friday reportedly bombed Amedi area in the northern Kurdistan Region. A 35-year-old woman was injured in the aerial attacks.
“On Friday afternoon, at 2:00 pm, Turkish fighter jets bombed Nerwa Rekan area in the Amedi region. A woman who was there for spring herbs was injured,” assistant manager of Amedi hospital, Darwesh Rekani, told Rudaw.
The injured woman “was taken to Amedi hospital by emergency services. She was then referred to Duhok hospital,” he added. “Her name is Nergiz Hussein. After arrival at the hospital, she was given treatment and her health condition is stable now.”
Hussein’s husband said that they were in the mountains as fighter jets bombed the area five times.
Locals are under “constant fear” because of airstrikes carried out by Turkey, supposedly against the PKK positions in the area, he said.
He claimed that the Turkish army knows the locations of the PKK positions, but still targeted areas where civilians were.
He said the PKK should leave the area in order to end the bombings and allow villagers to return to their homes.
