Iraqi airstrikes blast ISIS bases in north Fallujah

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - ISIS militants have been killed and targets destroyed by Iraqi airstrikes on the militant stronghold of Fallujah.
 
“The Iraqi bombardments on the area of Jollan, in northern Fallujah, resulted in killing 17 ISIS militants and destroyed four armored vehicles,” the head of Anbar military operations said in a statement on Friday.
 
The statement added that warplanes destroyed  an ISIS arsenal for used for making ammunition and land mines, which the jihadists had used to deadly effect against the Iraqi army.
 
The Iraqi army has been trying to drive ISIS militants out of the town of Fallujah for more than a year. Despite attacks with artillery and heavy weapons, the Iraqi forces have not advanced into the town.
