ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Scores of people flock on the weekends to Kani Losa spring near the Kurdish city of Piranshahr in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province, enjoying respite from urban life and cooling themselves off in the cold waters.
Dense trees and a waterfall splashing down the mountain and drizzling onto the rocks have constituted a charming, picturesque view of the area, attracting tourists from all over Iran and beyond.
Tourists are at awe at the fascinating and charming views of the spring.
“It is a very beautiful place. It has plenty of unseen sites. God willing, we will altogether protect this nature,” Aram Yekaw, a tourist from the Kurdish city of Naqadeh said. “It is a clean place. We must take care of this place’s environment.”
Iran, much like the rest of the Middle East, has been hit by a major heatwave.
Besides swimming and taking pictures of the waterfall, tourists splash each other with water and enjoy their time away from daily life routines.
Most of the tourists call on fellow holidaymakers to preserve nature and avoid littering.
“We are calling on tourists who come to this place not to litter it. We must protect this beautiful part of Kurdistan. We must protect this place for generations to come. I have kids and I want them to enjoy this place in the future, like I do now,” Rahim Niaamatzadeh, a tourist from Saqqez said.
Kani Losa spring is located between Piranshahr and Sardasht, close to the village of Badinawe. The area is difficult to access by vehicles, and therefore must be reached by walking.
The area presents an ideal picture of a spring, consisting of a waterfall, trees, and a high, rugged mountain.
