Kurdish security forces arrest alleged terrorist group in Erbil
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — A group of six alleged terrorists have been detained by Kurdish security forces in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region, the Kurdistan Regional Government Security Council announced in a Monday statement.
“All six terrorists are Erbil residents and were planning to attack civilian sites inside the city,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the group admitted they were encouraged to use violence from rhetoric in mosques, and later joined the ISIS group.
“Daesh asked them to conduct terrorist attacks in Erbil,” the statement added using Daesh, the Arabic acronym for ISIS.
