ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The Kurdistan Region's parliament passed a bill to amend its by-laws following a series of sessions, according to a statement seen by Rudaw on Tuesday.

According to the amendment, effective immediately the parliament speaker will need to have two deputies — one of which should be a female.

Additionally, no MP will be allowed to split from its bloc and create another one.

The bill also added that during the submission of budget bill, MPs will not be allowed to request a leave.

The Kurdistan Region's Judiciary Council also will be allowed to raise bills, according to the change in by-laws.

If a minister is summoned by the parliament and he or she does not come, the parliament will be authorized to decide on them in their absence.

The issues at hand have been discussed and debated for four years.

Acting parliament speaker Jaafar Iminiki thanked a temporary committee which has been reviewing the by-laws. He also congratulated the nation of Kurdistan for the passing of the bill.

The Kurdistan Region will hold a parliamentary election on September 30.
