Turkish bombardment damages a house in Duhok village
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Turkey bombarded a village in Duhok province early Friday, with a bomb damaging the ceiling of a house, the owner told Rudaw.
The bombardment targeted Sararo village in Kani Masi subdistrict. One of the bombs hit the house of Radwan Ahmed, causing a hole in the ceiling.
Ahmed told Rudaw’s Haydar Doski later in the day that they had abandoned their village due to constant clashes between Turkish army and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), adding that no one was in the house when it was targeted.
One year after abandoning his newly-constructed house, Ahmed visited it on Friday to see the damage. “We saw that it was hit by a bomb.”
He said that they lived in the house only for a few days after its construction before leaving their village.
Turkey bombarded Hirore village in the same region on Thursday, damaging some houses and vehicles.
Ankara frequently carries out ground and aerial military operations against the PKK at home and inside the Kurdistan Region, but it has denied targeting civilians.
The bombardment comes days before the first anniversary of Turkey’s military offensive against the PKK in the Region.
