EU Parliament in tears, gives standing ovation to Yezidi girls after hearing their tales
Nadia Murad and Lamiya Aji Bashar, who both suffered at the hands of ISIS, were given the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought from the European Parliament
The Speaker of the EU Parliament was brought to tears when two Yezidi girls recounted the tragic tales of the ISIS attack on Iraq’s Yezidis.
“When I woke up I had lost both eyes and my body was burning. I did not think I would be able to open my eyes ever again,” one of the girls recounted, remembering the ISIS attack.
MPs gave the girls a standing ovation after hearing their tale.
