KRG President Barzani meets with US ambassador to Iraq

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Kurdistan region President Masoud Barzani received US Ambassador to Iraq Stuart E. Jones in his office in Erbil on Tuesday.
 
The two discussed key issues in the region, including fighting the Islamic State.
 
“The political situation and security of Iraq and Syria, the situation in the battlefields against the terrorists of ISIS in Anbar, Salahadin and Mosul, and how to increase coordination between Peshmerga forces, the coalition and Iraqi forces,” were among the key issues discussed at the meeting, according to a statement released from Barzani’s office Tuesday.
 
The two sides also discussed “the relationships between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government, and signed deals between Baghdad and Erbil,” said the statement.
