ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – ISIS militants carried out a chemical attack on Peshmerga front lines on Saturday, wounding 14 Peshmerga, Sirwan Barzani, Peshmerga Commander of the Gwer-Makhmour front said.
Barzani said that Islamic State militants attacked Peshmerga fronts with heavy weapons armed with poison gas late on Saturday afternoon. Fourteen Peshmerga were wounded.
“The conditions of the wounded Peshmerga are stable,” Barzani said. “After the Peshmerga’s counter-attacks, the condition on the front is stable as well.”
This is at least the fifth time that ISIS has attacked the Peshmerga’s Gwer front with chemical weapons, including mustard gas, injuring dozens of Peshmerga.
