ERBIL—Kurdish security forces have arrested a “terrorist group” planning major attacks against political party offices in the Kurdistan Region, the region’s Security Council said Saturday.
Officials of the Security Council said in a press conference in Erbil that the “terrorist group consisting of nine people” had planned to blow up the building of the political bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Sulaimani and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP)’s in Erbil.
Officials said that the group was behind the bombing of the Erbil governor’s building and several bombings in Kirkuk last month.
According to Kurdish security officials, members of the group are of Arab and Kurdish nationality.
