ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Khor Mor gas field in Kurdistan Region’s Chamchamal town was attacked with rockets late Wednesday but did not cause casualties and the production process continues, according to a top Kurdish official.

Ahmed Mufti, Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) natural resources deputy minister, told Rudaw that the key field, operated by the UAE-based Dana Gas, was attacked with eight rockets but the company continues producing gas.

"The attack was carried out with Katyusha rockets but did not cause any casualties," said Mufti.

The Kurdistan Region has been facing an unprecedented number of rocket and drone attacks since the beginning of the year, mostly blamed on Iran-backed militias.

Dana Gas on Thursday confirmed that several rockets had landed within the Khor Mor block but said that there were no casualties or material damages and added that “production operations continue as normal without interruption.”

Khor Mor gas field has been targeted with rockets and explosive-laden drones several times, with the latest one being in late July.

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said in June that he was troubled by the attacks on Khor Mor, noting that additional security forces will be deployed to the area.

Khor Mor field produces 452 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, according to Dana Gas.
