ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—Kurdish forces killed an Islamic State (ISIS) militant notorious for his public beheadings in the town of Shingal on Sunday, the Peshmerga said.
Social media pages of ISIS published photos and praise of Muadh Hamad al-Ris, 21 years old, after his death in Shingal.
Al-Ris had appeared in numerous videos beheading captured Syrian soldiers.
His brother Muhammad Hamad al-Ris, another ISIS militant, was also believed to have been killed in Syria last month.
Al-Ris was a Saudi national who according to Arabic websites joined ISIS in Syria along with 34 other men from the town of al-Tamir in Saudi Arabia.
