Sartip Othman
The sidewalks in front of Sulaimani’s Great Mosque are the traditional home to tasbih craftsmen and sellers.

The hands of older Kurdish men, and some women, are often occupied with the long, thin strands of beads that some use for prayers and others simply out of habit.

The beads are made from qazwan, the dried seeds of the pistachio tree.
